"Born To Boogie"

Hibernation

(DeMille/Morabito)

In the spring and summer the Woodchuck eats and eats
He gets a puffy body, he gets some chubby cheeks
But in the dead of winter he doesn't do a thing
He stays inside his cozy den and sleeps until the spring
He's Hibernating, He's trying to stay alive
That's what the Woodchuck does, in the winter to survive

In the spring and summer the Ducks stay by the pond
They raise up little Ducklings, they feed at dusk and dawn
But in the dead of winter, the Ducks are not around
'Cause in the fall they all took off and headed southward bound
They're Migrating, they're trying to stay alive
That's what the Ducks do, in the winter to survive

In the spring and summer the Black Bear feeds
He eats the sweet blueberries, and honey from the bees
But in the dead of winter he's usually asleep
Except on warm and sunny days, he comes out to take a peak
'Cause he is Dormant, he's just trying to stay alive
That's what the Black Bear does, in the winter to survive

In the spring and summer, the Snowshoe Hare
He has a brownish coat on, he sniffs the evening air
But in the dead of winter, his coat is snowy white
Because of all that camouflage he's hidden out of sight
'Cause he is Active, he's just trying to stay alive
That's what the Snowshoe Hare does, in the the winter to survive

Hibernation, Migration, Dormancy, Activity
That's what creatures do in the winter to survive
